In the fiscal year 2024, Enterprise Technology & Services (ET&S) successfully completed the modernization of the University System of New Hampshire (USNH) Hybrid Data Center. This significant project involved the consolidation of compute and storage resources from multiple campuses, including Keene State College, Plymouth State University, and the UNH College of Professional Studies, into the primary data center at the University of New Hampshire in Durham.
The initiative has reduced support, power, and cooling costs while increasing capacity and ensuring network redundancy. The USNH Hybrid Data Center now boasts full staffing and redundant networking, power, and cooling systems. A key component of this upgrade was the standardization of the Dell VxRail platform, which has facilitated a faster and simpler transformation of operations and modernization of the data center infrastructure.
This standardization enabled the establishment of computer and storage redundancy at Keene State College. The overarching goal of this project was to refresh and standardize the existing hardware infrastructure, which has decreased support costs and enhanced system availability. ET&S's efforts have thus ensured a more unified, supportable, and cost-effective infrastructure for the USNH.
