Namecoach is a technology that allows users to record the preferred pronunciation of their name to make it easier for others to enunciate and remember names. In FY23, The Enterprise Technology & Services (ET&S) Teaching & Learning Technologies team partnered with the UNH Law School and implemented NameCoach into Canvas, the USNH Learning Management System. Name Pages are specific web pages that contain lists of NameCoach recordings. Students upload their preferred name pronunciation to Name Pages before end-of-term events, allowing faculty and staff to preview student names before events such as commencement.
Following the UNH Law NameCoach pilot, ET&S rolled out NameCoach and Name Pages to all University System of New Hampshire campuses and created supporting documentation.
Teaching & Learning Technologies successfully implemented this project in time for commencement at Keene State College, Plymouth State University, and the University of New Hampshire. ET&S would like to thank the UNH Law School for bringing this service to all of USNH.
