Subject: Tech Briefing: To Know and Do – Friday, April 21, 2023

This week’s Tech Briefing contains new information and training opportunities.

Scheduled Maintenance: USNH Network Sat. 4/22 and Sun. 4/23

To Know: From 6:00 a.m. Saturday, April 22, until 6:00 p.m. Sunday, April 23, ET&S will work on the UNSH Network, causing brief disruptions in Internet service across USNH. UNH-Manchester will have a network outage on its primary link; backup services will run at a reduced capacity. GSC Manchester and the Cooperative Extension office in Goffstown will be offline. USNH Networking will do its best to minimize the impact on the campuses.

To Do: No user action is required.

ET&S to Enable Seamless Single Sign-On (SSO) for Banner Xtender, Application Navigator, and Admin Pages on Tuesday, April 25

To Know: On Tuesday, April 25, from 7:00 – 8:00 a.m., ET&S will enable SSO for Banner Xtender, Application Navigator, and Admin Pages internally-facing pages. During this window, these applications will not be available. The new SSO will use the same authentication technology for M365 and other USNH applications; when logging in, the authentication page and methods are similar to M365. Here are a few other things to know:

  • Due to the sensitive nature of the data found in the above-mentioned applications, you will be prompted to refresh your authentication session more frequently than other Microsoft SSO-enabled apps.  This means you will be prompted more frequently to MFA when accessing Banner Xtender, Application Navigator, and Admin Pages.
  • If you log out of these applications, it will also sign you out of other Microsoft MFA-enabled applications, such as your email, Canvas, and Zoom, which may be open in the same browser session.  This is expected behavior as part of the Azure SSO environment.

To Do: If you are having trouble signing into the applications listed above on or after Tuesday, April 25, please clear your browser cache and cookies and close your browser.

New Zoom Feature Available on April 22

To Know: On Saturday, April 22, Zoom will enable New Meeting Join Flow to improve the user experience of joining a meeting. New Meeting Join Flow streamlines the user experience of joining a meeting to reduce the number of windows a user may flow through before joining. All previously scheduled meetings will be automatically updated to the new join flow. There should be no impact on each meeting’s settings, the meeting link, and participants' ability to join these meetings.

To Do: Review the New Meeting Join Flow FAQ webpage to learn more about this new feature.
