ET&S Strategic Communications

This week’s Enterprise Technology & Services (ET&S) Tech Briefing contains new information and training opportunities.

Email Auto-Forwarding Will Be Turned Off for PSU Faculty on Thursday, December 1

To Know: To ensure PSU follows the USNH Institutional Email Security Standard and relevant regulations and policies, ET&S will disable email auto-forwarding on Thursday, December 1, 2022, for all PSU faculty (ET&S disabled email auto-forwarding for staff on November 1). Auto-forwarding may cause unintentional disclosure of protected or restricted information and poses a risk to the confidentiality of data. All emails auto-forwarded to an external email account such as Gmail or Yahoo! will no longer deliver to that address starting on 12/1/22. This will not impact manually forwarded emails.

To Do: No user action is required.

Bulk Email Service Survey

To Know: ET&S is currently gathering information on the use of bulk email services across USNH. Bulk email-sending services are email providers that can send mass emails to a large group of people at once. These services include platforms like Constant Contact, Mailchimp, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, and others.

To Do: If you use a bulk email-sending service for a USNH institution, please complete this survey: https://unh.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_3lRjz0gTuhNSbfE

Zoom Client Update

To Know: Some recent updates may have logged you out of the Zoom client, which may impact specific settings when joining a meeting, including how your display name appears and background preferences.

To Do: To make sure you are logged in to Zoom, go to your applications on your computer and locate “zoom.us” and open the app. If you are not logged in, you will see a sign-in screen.  Choose “SSO” under the “sign in with” option. If you are in a meeting, you can ensure you are logged in by selecting “zoom.us” in the upper left corner.  If you are not logged in, select “Sign in” to sign in during a meeting. Click here for instructions.
