Parents hug their college students goodbye

The Enterprise Technology & Services Institutional Research and Assessment (IR&A) team provides data and analysis to support decision-making and planning across the USNH institutions, support assessment and accreditation, fulfill external reporting mandates, and provide the campus communities and the public with information about students and their outcomes.

In FY22, IR&A provided a detailed analysis of first-to-second year student retention at Keene State College (KSC) that looked at factors associated with retention, independent of other variables, and provided an in-depth analysis of non-retaining students to develop profiles of different types of non-retaining students.

This project was designed to help KSC Enrollment Management and Academic Affairs better understand what happens with non-retaining students and whether certain types of students who leave for whom specific types of intervention might be more effective than others.

The outcomes of this project helped provide new and current insights to KSC leadership to help guide retention efforts. IR&A will employ the same analytic methodologies at KSC and the University of New Hampshire.
