In Summer 2020, USNH purchased Canvas as part of an NH state-wide license that covers all USNH institutions, the Community College System of NH, and K-12 schools.
Canvas is a well-designed, intuitive Learning Management System that focuses on saving time and effort, so that faculty and students can focus on the course content and not the tool.
In fall 2020, Enterprise Technology & Services began the process of migrating Granite State College (GSC) and Plymouth State University (PSU) from Moodle to Canvas. Keene State College and the University of New Hampshire both use Canvas as their learning management system and collectively brought many combined years of knowledge and experience to the project.
Both GSC and PSU started with gathering requirements, followed by the development of sandbox environments for both institutions, which allowed faculty to see the new system firsthand. GSC and PSU faculty then participated in successful pilots over winter and spring. In summer 2021, all courses were migrated from Moodle into Canvas.
This consolidation will save USNH $470,000 over the next 4 years on learning management systems and allows for a consistent student experience across the entire state.
