The UNH Computer Purchasing Program provides students, faculty and staff educational discounts on computers, accessories and software licenses. Enterprise Technology & Services (ET&S) works with Connection, a technology reseller, to provide Lenovo computers and technology supplies, and works directly with Apple on Mac OS and iOS devices.
In 2020, a global processor chip shortage impacted the availability of Intel-based Lenovo computers, with some delivery times reaching 30 days or more. In the spirit of faster delivery, better customer service, and cost savings for UNH departments, ET&S worked with Connection to identify multiple Lenovo models equipped with AMD processors comparable to the Intel-based models. These laptops were tested and approved by ET&S staff and also several UNH schools and colleges. All models received a favorable rating.
The IT Depot in the MUB has AMD Lenovo models on display for clients to see which machine is the right fit for their needs, and staff is available to provide technical guidance.
UNH departments who purchased the AMD Lenovo models realized a savings on average of $150.
