For parents who file their taxes separately, the student financial aid process can be lengthy and confusing. In 2019, UNH Financial Aid acted to improve the manual process of identifying students whose parents file separately to provide timelier, more accurate awards.
In April 2020, Enterprise Technology & Services introduced an automated workflow that used existing financial aid information to help identify students whose parents filed separately. This new process sends an email to parents to request clarifying information to speed up award decisions.
This project helped reduce staff time and award financial aid in a timelier fashion, resulting in improved service to students and their families.
