Modernizing UNH Websites

Enterprise Technology & Services (ET&S) continues to enhance the UNH infrastructure to deliver highly reliable, modern websites for the university’s recruitment and business needs.

In FY20, ET&S expanded its website projects to include:

• Developing the processes to support new websites built with Drupal 8. The new First-year Programs site was the first to be built and released on the new platform;
• Integrating automated security scans into UNH deployment pipelines to check all websites for security issues before deployment, and also to scan all existing sites on an ongoing basis for vulnerabilities;
• Moving more services into highly scalable, easy-to-manage Docker containers. ET&Scurrently runs 1,174 containers, where each container is effectively an isolated, single-function server.

This work supports UNH’s Development team, which creates websites that support students, faculty and staff to help recruit the next class of students and promote UNH’s work across the state.

From July to December 2019, ET&S deployed and updated 191 separate updates to enhance functionality and security of core college and department websites, a rate of more than one update daily.
