Happy New Year! Today’s Enterprise Technology & Services (ET&S) Tech Briefing contains new information, reminders, and training opportunities.

Updates on the Banner to Workday Migration for HR and Finance (New)
To Know: Workday is a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system that positions the University System of New Hampshire (USNH) to successfully attract and retain talented students, faculty, and staff. Workday will be our new platform for Human Resources, Finance, and Student Information (next phase), and will be easier to use, simple to understand, and effective in delivering timely value.

Based on the Workday Intro Sessions survey feedback, the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Program Team noted that users wanted to learn more about training and system changes, including integrations. The ERP Team is pleased to provide updates regarding these areas:

  • Introducing the new Software Changes (HCM/FIN) webpage
This page explains how the ERP Team makes decisions concerning HCM and Finance software changes, including a process flow and a software status spreadsheet. You can view the information by systems that are retired, integrated, or undetermined to date.
  • Training Strategy
The ERP Team is happy to announce that the Workday Steering Committee and campus leadership approved the Workday HCM and Finance training strategy. View the Training Strategy Video and slide deck to learn about the role-based training coming in November 2024 in preparation for the December 2024 launch of Workday HCM and Finance.

To Do: For questions or feedback, please contact the ERP Program Team. For more information on these and other Workday Resource topics, please visit the USNH Workday Resources website.

Change in Microsoft Security Settings on Wednesday, December 20 (Reminder)
To Know: On Wednesday, December 20, ET&S enabled a 24-hour “idle session timeout” for all web-based M365 Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams) in advance of Microsoft’s upcoming requirement of having session timeouts enabled. ET&S has enabled this setting for the maximum length of 24 hours. After 24 hours of inactivity (no interaction with any M365 apps in your browser window), a prompt will display asking you to confirm your session and that you want to remain signed in. If you do not confirm, you will automatically be signed out.

To Do: If you are automatically signed out, you must log in again with your fully qualified username (for example, jbd2519@usnh.edu) and password. Sometimes, you may be prompted to authenticate via Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).
