This week’s Enterprise Technology & Services Tech Briefing contains important information.

Microsoft Authentication Project: New Login Method for Microsoft Services
To Know:
Enterprise Technology & Services (ET&S) is pleased to announce that our multi-year project to consolidate services and enhance security is nearing completion.

Beginning today (Wednesday, June 28), all USNH students and employees may begin logging into USNH services with their Fully Qualified Username, which comprises your username followed by @usnh.edu (for example, jbd2519@usnh.edu). Effective August 1, 2023, ET&S will enforce this new method for all users.

This unique identifier plus Microsoft Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA, which you already use) will authenticate your access to many services, regardless of campus affiliation.

By making this change in your sign-in process, you will have access to these enhanced features:

  • A simplified three-step password change process (no more security questions). Go to https://myaccount.microsoft.com, and click the “Change Password” link in Password Tile.
  • Recover a forgotten password without contacting the Help Desk. To use this feature, you must have a third-party recovery email address (non-USNH) on file. Your current recovery email address is pre-populated into the new system.  The first time you log in with the new method, you may be asked to confirm your recovery email address or if we do not have one on file for you, to add one.
  • A single Multi-Factor Authentication system for all services.

To Do: If you experience trouble logging in with your Fully Qualified Username, please Clear the Cache on your web browser

USNH Computer Purchases
To Know:
The USNH Desktop Management team requests your assistance in supporting our initiative to track and manage USNH technology hardware assets more effectively.

You should only purchase University-owned computers through our designated vendor, Connection/GovConnection. This will ensure your computer arrives properly tagged and set up for the USNH enterprise computing environment.

To Do: Before placing a computer order through UShop, please contact your desktop support technician by creating a Technology Selection and Purchase request. Thank you!

Namecoach, a New Inclusivity Tool

To Know: Namecoach is now available in Canvas and Outlook. Namecoach is a tool that allows users to record their name how they would prefer it pronounced.

  • In Outlook, you can record your name, and others can listen to your name recording through your sent or received emails.
  • In Canvas, faculty & students can listen to others’ recordings (less than 10 sec) to better understand pronunciation and provide a more inclusive environment.

To Do: Read more about the Namecoach integration in Outlook in our Namecoach Integration for Outlook Web and Desktop article.

Read more about the Namecoach integration in Canvas in our Namecoach – Canvas article.
