Today’s Enterprise Technology & Services Tech Briefing contains new information, reminders, and training opportunities.

Pilot for the New myUNH Portal Coming March 6

To Know: As previously communicated, UNH will soon replace its current campus portal with a modern, highly functional system. The new myUNH Portal is a one-stop campus resource available through a web browser and a mobile app (note: the mobile app is still in development and is not yet accessible). While the official launch is in the summer of 2023, ET&S will host a pilot for the new myUNH, in March, and we’re asking UNH students, faculty, and staff to provide feedback on its features, functionality, and content. Those who complete the brief feedback survey will automatically be entered to win one of ten $100 gift cards as an incentive for your participation.

USNH Cybersecurity: Online Data Security Training (Reminder)

To Know: Cybersecurity and data protection is everyone’s responsibility at the University System of New Hampshire (USNH). USNH requests that all employees complete an annual online training course on cybersecurity best practices to comply with this standard. You have been enrolled in this training via USNH’s Get Inclusive platform. This training aims to increase awareness of cyber threats and how to protect against them. Research has shown that cybersecurity awareness training can significantly lower the risk of a successful cyber-attack.

To Do: You will receive an email from Get Inclusive. Please log into the Get Inclusive dashboard via the link provided in this message. The training module is self-paced and will take around 20 minutes to complete. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and participation. By learning to protect ourselves, we protect each other. Please contact cybersecurity.grc@usnh.edu if you need assistance.

Question of the Week

A colleague emailed me a link to a Word document from their OneDrive. How do I open this document on the Microsoft desktop rather than the web app?

You can open files in Microsoft OneDrive, SharePoint, or Teams in the desktop app by clicking the ellipse (three dots) next to the file. When the “Open In” option appears, choose “Desktop App.”  If you have already opened the document in the web app, click the button on the right side that says ‘Editing’ and select the bottom option for ‘Open in Desktop App’. This same tip works for Excel and PowerPoint files when you need the full functionality of the desktop application.
