ET&S Strategic Communications

In 2021, Enterprise Technology & Services (ET&S) started work on a major update of the University System of New Hampshire (USNH) phone system to standardize dialing for all its institutions, improve 911 service, reduce maintenance costs, and create five-digit dialing between campuses. This project allows all USNH institutions to leverage the same phone system, which will improve the way staff communicate with students, colleagues, and customers.

ET&S started this project in August 2021 by switching the University of New Hampshire (UNH) from perpetual to subscription-based licensing, which provides enough licenses to cover all USNH phones at all institutions. Next, ET&S upgraded the UNH Avaya phone software to the latest version, which provided the foundation for all USNH voicemail systems.

In January 2022, ET&S merged the Plymouth State University (PSU) Avaya voicemail system with the UNH system, which brought the PSU system up to date with the latest software and provided additional capabilities not available on the previous version of the software. ET&S completed this milestone in February 2022.

ET&S started work to replace the Keene State College (KSC) phone system in February 2022, upgrading all handsets with modern Voice Over Internet Protocol phones (VoIP) and completed this work in May 2022. ET&S provided training for this new phone system to all KSC faculty and staff.

Next, ET&S will schedule the installation of a new phone system at Granite State College in Concord to replace the current hosted solution. In 2023, ET&S will migrate all UNH users to the new Avaya mail system.
