COVID Testing Lab

Students, faculty, and staff at Plymouth State University were able to use a new mobile app to access classrooms and campus facilities during COVID after Enterprise Technology & Services (ET&S) launched the Panther Pass in fall 2022.

The Panther Pass is like the UNH Wildcat Pass application created by the ET&S Software Development team. It leverages technology originally developed by the University of New Hampshire to help maintain chemical inventories. The UNH Chemical Environmental Management System (UNHCEMS) is used by 35 other universities and serves as the backbone for the mobile apps, which allow users to easily see whether they have met COVID testing requirements on their campuses.

When a passholder has met testing requirements, they see a colorful image when logging into the app. The image changes daily.

When a passholder has not met COVID requirements, they receive a small text message instead of the day’s image. The message lets users know what steps to take to validate their pass.

The COVID-19 Data Warehouse team worked with PSU’s Richard Grossman to configure automated data feeds for the Panther Pass. The feeds keep each user’s COVID test compliance information up to date, making it easy for users to review their status while also helping to assure COVID safety on our campuses.
