New USNH Gateway – Technology Quick Access Links
To Know: Starting Oct 30, 2024, the Production and Test Environment links currently located in the UNH Enterprise Gateway will only be available in the myUSNH Portal located at my.usnh.edu.

Accounts Management System Change
To Know: The Accounts Management System (AMS) is a single portal for all faculty, staff and students to make requests related to their own IT account access as well as the access of others. Accounts include applications, such as Banner systems, WebI, Xtender, AD/VPN, Web Time Entry, Fileshares, Drupal, UNHINFO, and more. On Thursday, October 31,AMS will have an updated user experience.

ET&S Upgrades Wireless Access Points at Durham and UNH Manchester
To Know:
Last week, ET&S activated the 6GHz band on WiFi access points at UNH-Durham and UNH-Manchester, and in the process increased network capacity, reduced network interference, improved security, and increased network performance and speeds. This new band also supports wider channels for high-definition video and virtual reality.

Cybersecurity Awareness Month: Week Two Events, Information, and Security Tips Since 2004, the United States has celebrated October as Cyber Security Awareness Month. Enterprise Technology & Services will use this as an opportunity to share essential tips to stay safe online, best practices for managing your information, and insights into the ever-evolving field of cybersecurity.  Here are your week two events, information, and security tips. Cybersecurity Awareness Month: In-Person Cybersecurity Symposium
Join us for an in-person Cybersecurity Symposium on Wednesday, October 23, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the MUB Stafford Room at UNH. This event will feature notable guest speakers including the NH Secretary of State David M. Scanlan, experts from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), and the Information Sharing and Analysis Center (ISAC) as well as light snacks. Key topics will include election disinformation and other critical cybersecurity issues.  All members of the USNH community are welcome to attend.

Webinar Wednesday Information – October 9 (Two Sessions)

Session One: Security Risks to Organizations | 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Jim Rindo, James Czarnecki, and Derek Kearley of Troubadour Tech will dive into the challenges colleges and universities face when trying to maintain security and data protection within internal applications on both school-issued and student devices.

Tip of the Week: Staying Secure with Regular Software Updates
New security vulnerabilities are discovered regularly, giving attackers new opportunities to exploit weaknesses in devices and applications. Keeping your software and apps up to date is essential to patch these vulnerabilities, fix bugs, and maintain optimal security.

Action of the Week:
Check that all your devices and applications have the latest updates installed. Many updates address critical security issues, so enabling automatic updates where possible is a good practice.
