Catherine Provencher was named Chancellor of the University System of New Hampshire (USNH) by its Board of Trustees effective July 1, 2024. USNH is New Hampshire’s four-year public higher education system comprised of the University of New Hampshire, Plymouth State University and Keene State College.
Ms. Provencher also served as Vice Chancellor and Treasurer, the Chief Financial Officer of the University System. In that role, she and her team of approximately fifty coworkers provided centralized accounting, budgeting, treasury, including cash, investment and debt management, internal audit, procurement, capital planning and institutional research services to the four institutions comprising the University System. Provencher and her team also served as staff liaison to the Board of Trustees’ Financial Affairs, Investment and Audit Committees.
She joined the University System in March 2014 following a successful 27 year career in New Hampshire State service, most recently serving as State Treasurer, preceded as Director of Audits of the Office of Legislative Budget Assistant, the State’s Auditor.
Provencher currently serves on the Board of the NH Business Finance Authority. She holds a Masters in Business Administration from New Hampshire College and a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from Bentley College.
